With Surgical Advances

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation Surgery

With surgical advances, surgeons can now use fat grafting or the transferring of fat cells from one portion of your body to another as an alternative method of breast augmentation.

There are options of augmenting the breasts entirely with fat grafting. This procedure removes fat cells from your abdomen, thighs, buttocks or elsewhere. Our surgeons refine and re-implants these fat cells beneath the skin to increase volume.

Where The Fat Is Desired

What is breast augmentation with fat transfer?

Fat transfer breast augmentation is simple: taking fat cells from one portion of the body and repurposing them to use in another area of the body where the fat is desired. The fat transfer method is employed to increase the volume of all or part of the breasts. This procedure is also known as a Breast Augmentation with Fat Grafting.

Creates A Natural, Full Looking Breast

How does fat transfer breast augmentation work and what are the benefits?

After cleansing the donor and recipient sites, fat is withdrawn from the donor. Dr. Feledy and Dr. Maiorino applies the harvested fat cells on the treatment site to restore volume and improve signs of aging. The fat transfer to breasts creates a natural, full looking breast with your body's own cells. Liposuction removes fat from the donor area on your body such as the thighs, abdomen, buttocks, or other area with excess fat. You get two big benefits: larger breasts created from natural materials and being slimmer from the liposuction procedure.

Is a breast implant or breast fat transfer better?

It depends on your body type, medical history and what look you desire to determine what approach for breast augmentation is best for you. With decades of experience as a surgeon, our surgeons will explain what specific options that is available to you during your initial examination and consultation.

The fat grafting option may require a slight overfilling to circumvent some of the fat re-absorption by your body. When fat is used to augment the breasts, this over-filling approach could cause your face to appear fuller than desired. But it should soon even out. Sufficient fat must be available if augmenting breasts with only fat grafting methods. The body must also be able to naturally re-absorb the fat. This can result in a shorter term than using breast implants.

“I didn't know a breast augmentation with fat transfer was possible until I met with Dr. Feledy. It seems like something from the future, the idea of taking fat from my butt and increasing the size of my chest. But that is exactly what happened.”

FAQs

Many patients resume normal activity following surgery. You can expect some swelling, bruising or redness in the donor and recipient sites. The severity of these symptoms will depend on the size and location of the treatment area. Stay out of the sun until redness and bruising subsides, which can take up to 48 hours. Use makeup with sunblock protection to conceal your condition. Swelling and puffiness in the recipient site can last for several weeks, especially in a large area.

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation patients can expect to retain between 50% and 80% of the fat transferred. The remaining fat transferred to the breast is permanent. Most Northern VA fat transfer breast augmentation patients find that between 20% and 50% of the injected fat disappears within three to six months. Repeated injections may be necessary to obtain the desired results. Dr. Feledy or Dr. Maiorino will advise you on how to maintain your results.
