Breast Implant Revision in Northern VA
Breast Implant Revision Surgery
A breast implant revision, or a corrective breast augmentation, consists of breast implant removal and replacement with new implants or other aspects to correct an already existing breast augmentation.
The breast implant revision may be required for cosmetic or medical reasons. Belmont Plastic Surgery is the place to go if you are dissatisfied with the physical outcome of an augmentation or you've changed your mind about the size of your implants.
“After 15 years with breast implants, I needed to have the breast implants replaced or removed. Belmont helped me get them replaced with new implants and I decided to go down a size. I didn't realize how easy this process was but for anyone with breast implants who maybes wants something a little different, it is worth it." -G.R.*
Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation FAQS
1) Why are breast implant revisions done?
Although most patients experience years of satisfaction with their breast augmentation, breast implants are not necessarily lifetime devices. Some patients may require corrective breast augmentation to enhance the original breast augmentation that may have declined aesthetically during the aging process.
2) Am I a good candidate for corrective breast augmentation?
If you are dissatisfied with the results of a prior breast augmentation, you are a candidate for breast implant replacement. As with any cosmetic procedure, ideal candidates need to be in good physical and psychological health.
3) How are breast implants replaced?
Dr. Feledy might use the same incision site as your original surgery. The implant will be removed at the site of the incision and a new implant will be inserted (if desired). The incisions will be closed with sutures and covered with surgical dressings.
4) How long will I be in surgery?
A typical corrective breast augmentation will be performed under general anesthesia (in most cases) and be completed in less than two hours.
5) What should I expect during the recovery process?
The recovery process will be similar to the initial breast augmentation with some swelling, bruising or discomfort after the surgery. Dr. Feledy can prescribe pain medication to alleviate any discomfort. You should be able to resume normal activities a week or two following your surgery.
6) What are some of the risks associated with corrective breast augmentation?
Any surgical procedures have a degree of risk but corrective breast augmentation is considered safe. Complications are rare and may include bleeding, infection, and adverse reactions to anesthesia, scarring or asymmetry.
