Chemical Peel Treatments

Damaged or uneven skin can often be resolved with a chemical peel, which removes dead surface cells to stimulate the development of beautiful healthy skin.

A light or deep treatment can offer long-lasting benefits for damaged skin on your face, neck, and chest. Dr. Feledy performs chemical peels at his plastic surgery clinics in Chevy Chase, Maryland and Stafford, Virginia.

What can be treated with a chemical peel?

This treatment is ideally suited for achieving the appearance of younger-looking skin.

Chemical peels can address the following common issues:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Poor complexion
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Some scars (e.g. acne scars)

Light peels are suitable for addressing mild problems, such as fine wrinkles or slightly uneven skin texture. Deep peels are more potent and can address more difficult skin issues. Ask Dr. Feledy which peel might be best suited for your unique needs.

Am I a good candidate for a chemical peel?

Chemical peels are suitable for most ages, with younger patients often seeking the procedure to address mild to moderate acne. Older patients typically want to target wrinkles or uneven skin tone. Patients with darker skin may not be suitable patients for a chemical peel because the procedure can change the pigmentation of the skin. People with darker skin should consult with Dr. Feledy about their skin treatment options.

Chemical Peel Procedure

simple and effective procedure

The chemical peel procedure is very simple and often takes about 15 minutes. After your skin has been cleansed, a chemical peel solution is applied to the treatment area – usually the face, but also sometimes the neck and chest. The solution remains on your skin for some time before being removed. Some Northern VA chemical peel patients may need more than one treatment.

Light Chemical Peel Treatment

With a light chemical peel you will experience some minimal flaking and will not need to apply ointment. Routine application of sunscreen will be important to prevent sun damage and ensure the best results.

Deep Chemical Peel Treatment

As with a light peel, your skin will shed its outer layers and reveal clearer skin. Following a chemical peel Northern VA patients may experience some redness and scabbing. In the days after receiving the chemical peel, it’s important to apply ointment and avoid sun exposure.
